The challenge

Per-student SaaS licensing made digital learning unaffordable at BrightPath's scale, and international platforms performed poorly on local connectivity. The network had exactly one systems administrator.

The solution

AnyStacks deployed a learning stack — Moodle LMS, Nextcloud for coursework, Jitsi for remote classes, Keycloak for 19,000 student identities — on regional cloud infrastructure with aggressive caching for low-bandwidth access. School-level admins manage everything through the GUI; the single sysadmin oversees the whole estate from one dashboard.

The AI angle

Exam-season load is predicted and pre-provisioned by AI DevOps, then released after — the network pays for peak capacity only during the weeks it exists. An AI teaching assistant pilot, running on a private Ollama deployment, helps teachers generate quizzes and differentiated worksheets aligned to the national curriculum.

Results

  • Total platform cost under $0.40 per student per month, ~90% below quoted SaaS alternatives
  • 99.7% uptime through two national exam seasons with AI-predicted capacity
  • One sysadmin operates 28 school deployments via centralized GUI management
  • Teacher AI pilot saves an average 4 hours per teacher per week on materials prep
Technology budgets here are real constraints, not line items. AnyStacks made a world-class digital campus arithmetic we could actually afford.
